Meeting Kaden!

At the end of May, Justin, Laura & the boys were in town and spent a day with us. We got to meet Kaden Henry at 2 weeks old! As I(Kara) was picking out pics for this post I noticed that most of them were of Kaden; but that's not because he got more attention than Braxton. Braxton just doesn't normally stay still long enough to capture him in a "still" picture! ;-)

Isn't he ADORABLE!!! Yah, I know, I'm an Aunt. ;-)

Meeting Kaden... I guess somehow I got the privilege of holding him first. Maybe I was just FAST ENOUGH for once!

Grandma :-)

Playing with the uncles
Animals are his favorite thing!

Just relaxing
Well, actually, Justin was working on a PC computer problem... not his favorite thing; but he's the only one in the family who can figure those stubborn computers out. In fact, he finally said, "I've got better things to do!" We're a MAC family, and if you've ever had one you know why. We just wish they were cheaper!

Aunt Bethany

He wasn't quite sure about that turkey until he figured out it was just a decoy!

Ticket to Ride (in the foreground)

Braxton loved his first ride on the "horsy".

Mom & Emily made this neat "I Spy Blanket" for Kaden (& Braxton). Can you spy the cement truck?

Story Time
Braxton loves books just like his Uncle John.

Great-Grandma time

Braxton never liked carrots until Grandma fed them to him for a snack (or maybe it's peer-pressure ;-).

Hangin' out with Uncle Ryan

We could already tell Kaden has a very different temperament than his older brother!

Special Time with Friends

Awhile back, us gals had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with some very dear friends in Sterling to celebrate their daughter Elizabeth's birthday.
We had a sweet time of fellowship, jewelry making, and horse-riding.

Jewelry making is a hobby that I (Kara) started awhile back, and they had asked me to teach them.  It was a lot of fun to see their creativity coming out so quickly; they were quick learners. :-)  I wish we had remembered to take a picture of our finished products, but.......oh well.
Most of our jewelry making class (Lydia S,  Sarah S & Emily aren't pictured) : Ashley, Caroline S, Kara, Elizabeth S, Bethany,   Katherine S.

Bethany and Elizabeth took a long ride together on Elizabeth's beautiful Arabian horses.

The younger girls also got to ride .

Thanks S family for a wonderful afternoon!!!

Hive Swarm

One of Trevor's hives swarmed again this spring; thankfully it was noticed before it was too late!

The swarm landed on a branch several yards down wind from the hive

This time he didn't have to use the forklift :-)

The bees won't sting when they are swarming; unless you pinch one.... so some of us were able to stand close by and watch without having to suit up. :-)

Putting them back into a new hive

It's neat to watch them up close!

Cement Pour

At the beginning of April, we poured a concrete approach to our shop.  We hired Mr. S to come and oversee the project. We appreciated him working with the guys on this project since Dad was tied up with business responsibilities and didn't have time to oversee!

Now the guys can't wait for a basketball goal... they will be building one eventually :-)

April & May Randoms

Yes, we've been very quiet on the blog this spring. There's been sooo much keeping us busy!
Here's a few random pictures of just a few of the highlights of the past couple of months.

::Zip-Line::
The guys finally got our zip-line put back up just before Easter. We had it up a number of years ago, but had to take it down due to re-landscaping our backyard.

We didn't (and still don't) have a permanent platform up yet, so this is what we temporarily use most of the time.
